Access Panel Conference 2024: Summary Report Published!
The annual Access Panel Conference, hosted by DES, took place at Perth Concert Hall in June. This year’s theme, #LookingForward, inspired over 80 attendees, both online and in person, to set goals and objectives for the coming year.
Keynote speaker Jane Moncrieffe from the Centre for Inclusive Living Perth and Kinross highlighted the evolution of their Access Panel over 40 years and discussed future plans for more training and awareness initiatives.
A significant highlight was the Braille Labelling campaign update by DES, Sight Scotland, and Oban Access Panel. The campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the lack of Braille on food products, received positive feedback, particularly after a powerful video by Marie Harrower about the daily challenges faced by blind and partially sighted individuals.
Breakout sessions allowed delegates to reflect on DES’s strategic plan, emphasising the crucial role of Access Panels in shaping these priorities. The conference feedback highlighted the passion and knowledge within the Access Panel network.
