About the election

The next Scottish Parliament election will take place on 7 May 2026. This election allows people in Scotland aged 16 and over to vote for Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs). MSPs represent people and make decisions on devolved issues such as health, education and transport.

Key dates:

Register to vote: midnight on Monday 20 April 2026

Apply for a postal vote: 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026

Apply for a proxy vote: 5pm on 28 April 2026

What is a manifesto?

A manifesto is a document published by a political party before an election. It sets out the policies the party stands for and what they would aim to deliver if elected. When political parties publish their manifestos, they should ensure that accessible formats are available at the same time.

Scottish Conservative and Unionist: The manifesto is not currently available in any alternative formats.

Scottish Greens: The manifesto is available in Easy Read. It is not available in Audio, Braille, British Sign Language (BSL), Large Print or Plain Text.

Scottish Labour: The manifesto is available in Large Print. It is not available in Audio, Braille, British Sign Language (BSL), Easy Read or Plain Text.

Scottish Liberal Democrats: The manifesto is available in Audio and Plain Text. It is not available in Braille, British Sign Language (BSL), Easy Read or Large Print.

Reform UK: The manifesto is not currently available in any alternative formats.

Scottish National Party (SNP): The manifesto is available in Braille and Large Print. It is not available in Audio, British Sign Language (BSL), Easy Read or Plain Text.

Accessible voting guides

You can also find more accessible information about voting through Everyone’s Vote Matters. This is a community-led project offering free, neutral and accessible voting guides to help people understand how voting works in Scotland ahead of the election.

The guides are available in more than 20 languages, Easy Read, Large Print and screen reader friendly formats, and audio (English).

They are designed to support New Scots, disabled people, young first-time voters, and anyone who faces barriers accessing clear voting information.
