Accessible Travel Framework: Surveys

The original Accessible Travel Framework (ATF) was published in 2016, with the framework based on consultation between key stakeholders, including: disabled people; Disabled Peoples Organisation’s (DPO); transport providers; and Transport Scotland.

The framework was produced to support disabled people’s rights by removing barriers and improving access to travel, and ensuring disabled people are fully involved in work to improve all aspects of travel.

Disability Equality Scotland (DES) has been approached by Transport Scotland to assist them in identifying the current views of disabled people concerning travel within Scotland.

This information will be used by Transport Scotland as they develop a successor to the ATF. We are therefore seeking your help to ensure that the views of as many disabled people as possible are represented.

ATF Survey

To help us work out what is important for a future ATF, we need to learn what is happening right now across the Scottish transport network and how disabled people travel.

The ATF also covers how we tackle hate crimes and abuse towards disabled people. As the

ATF covers lots of areas. We’ve tried to break it down into smaller surveys to make it easier for people to answer the questions.

We have put together 3 surveys to help find out what is happening in Scotland now. We have an online version of the survey (including an easy-read version).

Please answer our survey questions if:

• You are a disabled person
• You provide support for a disabled person

Our survey will close at 5.00pm on Wednesday 19 November 2025.

Future Surveys

Once we have gathered feedback from disabled people, we will be doing future surveys for the ATF. We plan to use what people tell us from the first surveys to shape what future surveys will look like.

These surveys will focus on individual modes of transport and how we can improve their accessibility.
