It is Really Not a Good Time to Be a Disabled Person in The United Kingdom – An Open Letter in Response to The Spring Statement 2025 (Social Security Changes)
Following the announcement by the United Kingdom (UK) Government yesterday with regard to social security changes, our Chief Executive Officer – Lyn Pornaro – has today written an open letter to the Prime Minister expressing the significant concern, upset and despair on behalf of Disability Equality Scotland members and the wider disabled community in Scotland.
The absolute reality is that the UK Government has, by its actions, chosen to disregard and punish some of the most marginalised in our society – disabled people.
We will be communicating this letter to all Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) and Members of Parliament (MP) representing Scottish constituencies and asking them to oppose these changes in their entirety.
Politics is about choices and now is the time for the UK Government to choose whether disabled lives matter.
