New Chief Executive Officer appointed at Disability Equality Scotland

Disability Equality Scotland (DES) is delighted to announce the appointment of Lucy Mulvagh as our new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Lucy joins us from the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE), where she is Director of Policy, Research and Impact. She brings extensive experience in influencing policy and championing the voices of people who are too often unheard.

Reflecting on her appointment, Lucy said:

“I am honoured to take on the role of CEO at Disability Equality Scotland at such a critical time, when disabled people in Scotland continue to face significant, unacceptable and avoidable barriers.

DES has a powerful voice, and I’m committed to strengthening it; working alongside the team, our members, Access Panels, and partners to drive for real change. This role is deeply important to me.

I’m passionate about advancing disabled people’s human rights and looking forward to leading an organisation that is grounded in equality, inclusion and participation.”

As CEO, Lucy will lead DES into its next phase of development. Disabled people in Scotland continue to experience inequality across many areas of everyday life. As our organisation grows, this leadership transition offers an opportunity to build on our momentum and further expand our impact.
